DIY Tea Confection–Inspired Soap Making

Wagashi traces its roots back to the Tang Dynasty, are traditional tea confection with a history of over 1,400 years, where it first appeared as an elegant tea confection served alongside tea during banquets.  These treats were also known as cha guo (茶果), guo zi (果子), or Tang guo zi (唐果子).

According to The History of Chinese Pastry (中国面点史), the Tang Dynasty marked the beginning of China’s nationwide tea culture, along with the refined custom of enjoying tea pastries while drinking tea.

Wagashi are loved for their elegance. Each piece captures the beauty of nature — flowers, leaves, seasons, and gentle colours — all shaped into small, delicate designs that bring joy and calm.
